Want To Be Featured On The Reading Fever?

Well, here's your chance!

I am currently accepting applications for my upcoming blog feature: Author Focus!

What is Author Focus?
Each week beginning in June, I'll be spotlighting an author who will get to show us whatever hobbies, talents, or obsessions you have, in a short (around 5 minutes) vlog. Yep, vlog. Oh yes, we want to see these things in real life! Or as close to that as we can get. :)

How Easy Is It?
For starters: the video can be of anything--a hidden talent, your best jokes, you singing a song, your favorite hobby, or anything else that you can come up with. This is all about YOU! It can also be longer or shorter than 5 minutes, as the need applies.
Next: it can be recorded on anything, such as a cell phone, laptop, camera, or video recorder, and can be sent in any format YouTube accepts.
Finally: I have a YouTube account where I will host the video (unless you would like you use your own account), taking the stress of converting and/or uploading to YouTube away from you. You just get to send me all your awesomeness, and let me handle the technical mumbo jumbo.

Why Author Focus?
I've always wondered what my favorite authors do during spare time--you know, when you're not spending hours at the keyboard fretting over sentences, creating our favorite characters, and churning out the novels we readers know and love. I've wondered what hidden talents you might posses, or what non-bookish hobbies you have. I wanted to know more about you; I wanted to know something different. And I knew I wasn't alone. At the beginning of the year, author Kimberly Sabatini sent me a video to include with an interview (which will be posted in October), where she demonstrated an awesome talent of hers on camera, in response to one of my questions. When I began being nosey thinking about authors and hidden talents I remembered this video, and it was like the two were meant to be together. And so Author Focus was born, as a way to let us readers see YOU in a new light!

What Do I Get Out Of This?
You'll get to reach a new audience--my fantastic readers--and attract admirers old and new.
Each post will consist of the video, an author bio, social media links (website, Twitter, & FB), and a link to your most recent/upcoming book--unless requested otherwise.
And best of all, you get to share that secret (or not so secret) talent/hobby of yours with the world. You know you want to! ;)

If you are interested in participating, please email me at readingfever@gmail.com.
If you're quick you may get the last two spots in June, but I will be scheduling the posts as far out as I need, to accommodate everyone. Please let me know if you have a book release that you would like the post to coincide with. I'll do my best to make it happen.
*If you are a Utah author, and want to be featured during Utah Book Month (August), let me know!

I can't wait to hear from you!

  1. Replies
    1. Thanks Juju! I'm pretty excited about it myself. :)

  2. This sounds so fun! I'm excited to see authors vlog.

    1. Thanks Kathryn! I'm excited as well. I have some vlogs from a few authors already, and they're pretty cool!

  3. I can't wait to watch these. It also made me think what my video could be and all I thought of would be showing people the 180+ bottles of nail polish I own. Worst. Video. Ever. ;)

    1. I would totally love that video! One of my secret obsessions is watching makeup and hair videos on YouTube, just because I love seeing all of their products. Nail polish would be cool, too!

  4. Penelope, somehow I've missed that you have a blog about books. Helloooo. I'm a bit out of it apparently. I'm here now and I'm going to subscribe so I won't miss anything. Woohoo!

    1. Oh, no worries. :) Thanks for subscribing, though! That's such a compliment.

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
