Foreign Cover Friday: Catching Fire

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly meme hosted by me (The Reading Fever), where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed. To join, either pick your favorite foreign cover, or pick many foreign covers, and start discussing!

This week's featured cover is:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
English language US edition
Remember when I did a FCF for The Hunger Games? Well now it's time to do one for Catching Fire, on honor of Katniss' participation in the Tournament of Heroines! :) I had some problems with Blogger last night and couldn't get this posted until just now, so please forgive me for being so late.

There are so many covers I found for Catching Fire, which means that if I were to do another post of The Hunger Games, I would probably find a lot more covers for that book, to. What are your thoughts?
Which covers do you like? Which do you hate?

Thanks for joining me for Foreign Cover Friday!

If you have a FCF post to share, include your link below.

  1. I love the u.k covers and that's the one i have! :D they are simple but look amazing! and creates an impact! :)

  2. Whoa there is so many its not even funny! The Russian one kind of weirds me out just because of the whole kissing cover thing. Not a particularly good representation of the story. Hehehe. :P

  3. I love our cover (I'm from Poland) but Chinese is amazing!

  4. omg so many!! I don't like the Russian one much, and the UK ones are okay, the blue one looks better in person, but the US one is my fave.

    The Cait Files

  5. Ooh, thanks for including the title translations--very neat!!!

I love the Chinese cover. It's gorgeous! Interesting how so many countries kept the same theme, unlike a lot of the other covers you post. I wonder if that was a mandate of the publisher, or overseas publishers banking on the international recognizability of the logo.

  6. "Opp i flammer" is Norwegian, not Swedish :)

The Thai version looks really interesting. So does the German/Lithuania and the Chinese covers. The Russian cover reminds me of The Notebook... Haha!

  7. Oooooooooooo I love the German one!

And the 3rd one/English language paperback is pretty gorgeous too!

  8. I love the simplicity of the black UK adult versions. Also the Chinese version, it kind of has a Lost-ish feel to it. My favorite cover with a model would have to be the German version. I wish I could wrap it around my book. It kind of reminds me of Lauren Oliver's Pandemonium cover, I think its the angle of her face.

@ The Reading Owl - I totally see the Notebook with the Russian cover.

  9. Valencian translation: In flames

    I read you!!

  10. I love this idea so much. It is so neat to see foreign covers. I especially like the german cover.

  11. Anais: THANK YOU!! I'm on my way to change it right now. :)

  12. This post is absolutely awesome. It's so amazing to see all the different covers. I didn't even know they had this many. Great post! :)

  13. I agree with you, I worked for an American translation agency for 5 years in the past. They had their own online translation software(Webcatt). At first I found it difficult to learn all the details but soon I noticed that the program was really simple and useful. Everybody who worked there shared the translation memory of each website they were working with so the memory was constantly changing and growing. And whatever change you made or new contribution you entered enriched the entire memory and you could detect mistakes in the TM and arrange them easily. norwegian translation. It was a good system in many aspects. I think it was the best option for big website translation projects

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
