This week, I am eagerly waiting on:

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Publisher: Harper Teen
Genre: Dystopia, Paranormal, Young Adult
Publication Date: 11.15.2011
Add it on Goodreads
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

This book just sounds SO cool! The first line of the description alone was enough to make me want to read it. I can't wait for November!!

What are you waiting on?

  23. As a fan of Tahereh Mafi's blog, I've been tracking the progress of this book deal for a while now. I'm excited/nervous to read the book, and I had really high hopes for the cover. I don't love the cover, though. It feels kind of generic.

Still, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this in November.

  29. Hi! I'm new to your blog, good work! Your pick sounds really interesting! I'm always looking for new YA lit to check out, so I'll have to pick this one up. I thought you might like my WoW, which is a book by a new author that I'm working with: (S)Mythology by Jeremy Tarr. It's a modern day fairy tale that is wry and whimsical, and tackles life...death...and the Underworld. The book is super cute and has sixty-four illustrations by artist Katy Smail, which really bring the main character Sophie to life. You can read the first three chapters and check out the illustrations at www.smythology.co.uk or check out the book on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/Shardcover. Enjoy!
