Sadness: In Memory of L.K. Madigan

My heart broke yesterday as the news began coming in that author L.K. Madigan had passed away. I won't pretend that I knew her very well. I didn't. But I did read her book The Mermaid's Mirror, which I loved, and exchanged a few emails with her about said book. Still, my heart broke. In a beautiful post just last month, she made the announcement that she had been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. She talked about how she wasn't afraid of dying, because she had been given a gift of time earlier in life, when she fought--and won--breast cancer. What a strong woman!

I just want to express my sympathy, and send my condolences to Lisa's family. She will be missed!

L.K. Madigan was the author of Flash Burnout and The Mermaid's Mirror
Flash Burnout won the William C. Morris YA Debut award in 2010.

  2. OMG
And she was only in her 40s.
    How terribly awful.
    I just got the goosebumps.
    What a tragedy.
I do so look forward to a cure to cancer.

  3. Such a heartbreaking situation. The world is so much better for having had her in it though...

  4. I didn't know that she had passed. I've been wanting to read the Mermaid's Mirror. Life is so fragile!
