For my Readers
All the books reviewed on this blog are either purchased by myself, borrowed, or are given to me for review by a publisher or author. I review books for the joy of reading, and to spread word about good books to others. I receive no monetary compensation for my reviews.
If I have been given a book for review, I will include "courtesy of (publisher/author)" on the review, next to the format listed.
All reviews are solely my own, honest, opinion.
For Authors & Publishers
- I review pre-publication and backlisted titles in the adult, young adult, and middle grade genres.
- My favorite genres are fantasy and historical fiction.
- I always give my honest opinion, whether it is positive or negative.
- I do not accept self-published books at this time.
The Longer Version
I am happy to accept your book for review if it fits my guidelines and reading preferences below. I am also happy to do author interviews, guest posts, giveaways, and/or participate in book tours.
My acceptance of a book does not mean that I guarantee a review. I reserve the right to turn down requests for books that are beyond my interest, or books that do not interest me after I have begun reading.
I do not post reviews on this blog for books that I do not finish, but I do post a review for any book that I do finish. I will always give my honest opinion. If I love the book, I will say that (and probably gush about it). If I don't love it, I will say that, too. To help my readers get a better idea of the content, I strive to include things I both like and dislike in each review.
I try to read and review books I receive in a timely manner. Depending on how many books I have at the time, this can range anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months. For pre-publication books, I like to post my review within two weeks before or after the book is released. I do my best to accommodate deadline requests, but I cannot make any guarantees.
I publish my reviews on this blog, and on Goodreads. If I feel strongly about the book, I may post reviews on LibraryThing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, The Book Depository, and Smashwords, as well.Formats
I prefer print copies, but I will occasionally accept ebooks and PDFs that are compatible with the Kindle format. I also accept audiobooks.
If I receive an ARC, I will not sell it. If I love the book, there is a chance I may loan it to a close family member to read, or I may offer it as an item in a giveaway so that others can enjoy it.
If you prefer that I not do this, please let me know, and I will refrain from doing it.
Fantasy (and all of its sub-genres)
Fairy Tales & Myths
I like to try books from genres that I don't usually read, although I am very picky about which of these I choose to read, since I hate not being able to finish a book.
What I Don't Review
Crime (without fantastical elements)
M/M or F/F
Short stories (some exceptions made)
Anthologies (some exceptions made)
I also don't like to read books that are overly sexual, extremely vulgar, or that are too graphic.
If you are interested in having me review a book, do an interview, participate in a book tour, or host a giveaway, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
