2013 Books-to-Movies

I don't know if this is just the first year that I've paid this much attention to it, or if film makers are really just deciding books are better starting material...but whatever it is, there are a TON of books that have been made into movies lately. Here's my attempt to gather all the ones I know are being released in 2013 into one list. If you think this list is long, you should see how many movies are currently in production for next year. There are even more!

  • Movies are listed in order of their release dates.
  • I've added *stars* to the movies I'm the most excited for, and ~waves~ to the books I plan to read (or have read) before watching their movie.

Which movies are you excited for? Which books will you be reading before you see the movies?

  1. Ooooooooooooo The Host! And GG! And Austenland.

    1. Right? I'm really excited for those two; especially Austenland!

  2. I've listened to the second Austenland but need to listen to the first.

I'll be listening to GG beforehand too.

The Host I already know and love.

    1. Okay, I've never read GG...are you liking it? I want to read it, but...you read my post about classics, right? Hahaha. I think I'll try it though.

Read the first Austenland! They're both good. :)

  3. I am so not excited for The Host or World War Z. I loved both of those books and I can tell by the trailers that the filmmakers have absolutely ruined the stories.

And Cassandra Clare's books have gotten so terrible that I'd forgotten I actually do want to see City of Bones. The movie looks pretty good. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Those ones I am excited for.

    1. I haven't actually seen a preview for The Host, so I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've only seen the posters, and the actors definitely look YA...which, isn't Melanie over 18? I can't even remember. I'm excited for it anyway.

What do you think is different about WWZ? I haven't read the book (yet) so I can't tell. I like that Brad Pit is in it. :)

  4. Wahoo! I didn't know they were making Paranoia into a movie!

    1. You've read it? When I looked it up and found out it was based on the book, I was surprised. The book sounds interesting. How did you like it?

  5. Wow, that is a lot. I had no idea there were so many. I'm excited about the same ones as you. Though I'm a little less excited about Beautiful creatures.

  6. It will be interesting to find out the top 5 movies based books.

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
