Welcome to The Farm blog tour, where escape is only the beginning...and for some, it's the end.
*cue evil music*
As you can see in my review of The Farm, this book totally took me by surprise. It's a book I really enjoyed reading, and one that I didn't want to end. Which is why I am so excited to bring you a part of an exclusive interview with Emily McKay, the author of The Farm. In it, we asked her to name her top 5 favorite quotes from The Farm. Here are her answers:
1. “Some days, you just want to let the bad guys win. My mom, the pro bono lawyer, used to say that to me sometimes, back in the Before. That’s how you know you’re doing the right thing—it’s so hard you want to give up. I really hoped she was right, because today was one of those days. Of course, my mom lived in a world where the monsters were greed, ambition, and questionable ethics. That all ended when the Ticks swarmed across the Southwest, eating every human in their path. My sister Mel and I live in a whole different world and the monsters here are less . . . metaphorical.” ~ Lily
3. “Carter hated like hell that he’d tranqed her for her own good. Yes, it was true, but it didn’t sit well with him. It reminded him all too much of the times his father had meted out harsh punish- ments for his own good.“ ~ Carter
4. “The Greens I harvest from Farms are all marinated in fear. Their blood is bitter. Un- pleasant. However, the hormonal condition humans call love is quite delightful on the palate.” ~ Sebastian
5. “I worry about Lily, sluggish as she is. Will she see Carter’s truths? Will he tell her? God knows she won’t hear them. She’s moving too fast to hear anyone’s music but her own. She’s so set, but I know he could make her settled. I tried to sync their noise into music, but they both pushed back. Too obdurate to be obliging. Silly Lily. How can she resist someone who brings gum and sounds like math?” ~ Mel

About Emily McKayEmily McKay loves to read, shop, and geek out about movies. When she’s not writing, she reads on-line gossip and bakes luscious deserts. She pretends that her weekly yoga practice balances out both of those things. She lives in central Texas with her family and her crazy pets. Though she’s never been much of a joiner, she somehow still managed to join multiple group blogs. (A pathological need to be part of any group of that wants her? Best not to analyze this too deeply.) So you can visit her at the Jaunty Quills, Harlequin Desire Authors, or Peanut butter on the Keyboard. She also co-write young adult rom-coms as Ivy Adams.
