This was weeks ago, but I am just now getting around to posting about it. During Utah Book Month, we had another social for Utah authors and book bloggers. It was fun! I didn't take as many pictures as I had planned to, but here are a few:
We mingled while waiting for everyone to arrive. We wore name tags with our names and blog/Twitter names. Each person got a label in their back with the name of a character from a book, and it was their job to ask yes or no questions to determine who they were. I was Anne Shirley, which took me an embarrassingly long time to guess, for some reason.
Everyone brought a book to swap, and they were then put in paper bags for a game we played later.
Food! We had a dessert potluck. It was delish.
The book swap: We sat in a circle around our
cornucopia pile of books, and introduced ourselves. We had book bloggers, authors, aspiring authors, husbands, friends, and many adorable children.
I learned about two awesome books I'm excited for: Pivot Point by Kasie West, and Insomnia by J.R. Johansson (which I've already done a WOW for, since it seems that cool). There were two other books in the works that I heard mentioned that day, both of which I really wish I could remember, because I wanted to look them up. Note for next time: BRING A PEN!!
Afterward, everyone picked books out of the pile and Suey read a story she came up with that talked about how this Utah group got started (it's all thanks to Natasha!). During the story, we passed our books to the left or right, anytime she said "left" or "right" in the story--which was a lot. Things got pretty craycray, and people ended up with less/more books than they started off with. Don't worry; we sorted it all out in the end. After that, it was like Christmas (to me, at least) and we got to open our packages and see what books we got. :)
After that, there was more chatting, eating, and some people (me) had to leave early. But it was fun while it lasted! Can't wait for the next one.
