My Literary Heroine Dream Team

I listened to the LOTR soundtrack yesterday morning, which lead to the need to watch the movies again, which ultimately led to the need to re-read the books sometime this year. But also, it reminded me that before I adored Katniss and Scarlet O'Hara, I adored Eowyn. Big time.

One thing lead to another, and soon I was on Pinterest creating a board for my favorite literary heroines...which caused me to start thinking about how cool it would be if these characters could band together to fight evil, à la Avengers. So here you have it:

My Literary Heroine Dream Team

Leaders

Eowyn of Rohan
A.K.A. "Lady of the Shield-arm"
Eowyn totally deserves this role, but I also think that she's pretty much the only person Katniss could get along with without constantly getting annoyed. ;)

Katniss Everdeen
A.K.A. "The Girl on Fire"

Of course The Girl on Fire has to be a leader!

Spies/Informants

Arya Stark
A.K.A. "Cat of the Canals"
She's cunning and completely underestimated.

Vin
A.K.A. "Mistborn"
Same with Vin! Plus, she can get into some pretty tricky places.

Strategists

Hermione Granger
A.K.A. "The Brightest Witch of Her Generation"
Strategy should be Hermione's middle name.

Scarlet O'Hara
A.K.A. "Every Southern Belle's Role Model"
Who better as a strategist, than the conniving Scarlet?

Assassins

Daenerys Targaryen
A.K.A. "The Mother of Dragons"
She's got this assassin thing down pat.

Faith Lehane
A.K.A. "The Other Slayer"
[Right image from the Buffy season 8 comics]
This one is cheating a little, but she's in the season 8 comics, so I'm counting it. :p

Rose Hathaway
A.K.A. "Little Dhampir" or "Roza"
Rose could also be a leader...if only she could control her temper.

Medical/Linguistics

Claire Fraser
A.K.A. "Sassenach"
She smart, knowledgeable, AND can deal with the stress of being transported to a different time period. Every team needs a Claire Fraser (especially if she brings Jamie along with her). ;)

So...who would be in YOUR dream team?

  1. I definitely agree with you on Hermione and Katniss. They're amazing. I'm not too familiar with the others on your list. Cammie from The Gallagher Girls Academy series would come in handy for spy/hand to hand combat. Lia from The River of Time series is amazing with a bow and Gabi with a sword.

    1. I haven't read The Gallagher Girls yet, but I agree that Lia and Gabi would be awesome additions! That series is cool. :)

  2. What a great idea! I love it. :)

Yes on Katniss and Hermione, of course. Both very worth heroines. I'm also there with all your entries from GoT. I know enough about it to know that these women are kick ass.

I'd have to give some thought to who I'd add but I wanted to tell you that this is awesome. Maybe the Snark Squad can play!

    1. That would be awesome! I'll be watching to see if you guys play along. :) And I hear you on GoT; even if you haven't seen it, it's obvious that those women are so awesome!

  3. Faith's actress also plays a kickbutt chick in the Dollhouse series. Good choices!! I LOVE Eowyn too. She is one of the best female characters ever!

    1. Ooh, I loved Dollhouse! I was so sad that they cancelled it; I was completely hooked (much like my issue with the cancellation of J.W.'s Firefly, too). What was her name again? Oh yeah, Echo!

  4. I love the dream team! I've never read the LOTR books, but I watch the movies every single year. Eowyn is a fantastic choice for a leading lady!

    Love this post idea! :-)

    1. Oh, you've got to read them! I cheated my first time, because someone had borrowed our first book...so I had just watched the first movie in the theater, and then picked up the second and third books and read them. It's a good thing, too, because I don't think I would have read them at all if I had began with the first one. Anyway...this comment has gotten way too long. Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you like Eowyn too! :)

    1. Awesome!! I'm so glad you did one of your own. I love your choices, too! I tried to leave a comment, but it's not letting my comment on your blog right now for some reason. I'll keep trying until it lets me though. :0)

  6. LOL! I love it! I'm so down on females characters. I need to quit being so mean to them, but I can't help it. I've always disliked Eowyn until the last time I watched the movies. Suddenly I felt for her and thought she kicked butt! Faith was always a favorite of mine too. And you can't have a team of heroines with out Hermione and Scarlet!

  7. I LOVE Eowyn and Katniss! I would definitely want them on my team too. Oh and Hermione too because she's freaking awesome. I would also probably want Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender. She's an awesome character. :)

  8. Love this! I haven't thought through my whole list yet, but Arya is definitely on it.
