Foreign Cover Friday: The Two Princesses of Bamarre

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly meme hosted by me (The Reading Fever), where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed. To join, either pick your favorite foreign cover, or pick many foreign covers, and start discussing!

This week's featured cover is:

English language hardcover edition
This was one of my MOST favorite books growing up. Even more than with Ella Enchanted, I identified with these two sisters so much (probably because they were so like my sister and I--at least I thought so). I was sad to see that this book hasn't been translated into as many languages as I had hoped, but it's been translated into quite a few. This cover remains my favorite, though. It tells you so much about the story. My next favorite cover is the one on the French language edition. :)
Enjoy!

English language editions (left: US paperback, right: Canada/UK hardcover)

 French language edition
French translation: The Two Princesses of Bamarre

German language edition
German translation: The Princess of Bamar

Indonesian language edition (I think; I couldn't confirm it on this one)
Indonesian translation: Adventures of Princess Palace Bamarre

Spanish language edition
Spanish translation: Two Princesses Without Fear

What are your thoughts?
Which covers do you like? Which do you hate?

  1. I love the original as well! I haven't read this one yet, Ella Enchanted has always been a favorite, but if you love it so much I will have to give it a chance! Gotta say, I don't remember what the story is about, but the spanish cover is Adorable! my FCF will be up soon!

  2. The others seem silly to me for some reason.

  3. I definitely like the original cover the best. It's the one I own, and the others just don't work or have the same effect.

And of course, the original is my first love. :)

  4. How did I miss this book growing up? It looks like something I would have absolutely loved.

I like the US paperback cover the best. The Indonesian one made me think of a Japanese anime. :)

  5. I really love US cover of this book. And, surprisingly, I really love the Spanish edition of the book! If faced with any of the other book covers, I probably would end up avoiding this book as foolish as that sounds =\

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
