Thanksgiving Thankfulness

Happy Thanksgiving!

My family is getting together today for dinner, and I plan to eat a lot. The whole family will be there, and the only tradition we have is to eat and have fun...but some things never change:

The food will be delicious. It always is.

After dinner, we'll break into groups. I love watching my son run around with all his cousins; the children of the cousins I ran around with when I was younger. My grandpa and uncles will be watching football, while the rest of us gossip and catch up. At some point, there will be an announcement that someone is either getting married, or expecting (if only you knew my family). Conversation will eventually turn to books, and I'll discover what my cousins have been reading.

Someone will break out Rock Band, and the kids and young adults will take turns playing. Some of the aunts and uncles will join in, and the competition will get heated. Later we'll bring the desserts out and the kids will appear as if summoned. When it gets dark, someone will bring out the newspapers and we'll all gather around, planning Black Friday shopping, comparing deals, and talking about what we plan to buy. And all too soon, it will be time to say goodbye and head home.

Spending time with my family and eating yummy food; it doesn't get much better than that.
This is my favorite day of the year!

Today I feel especially thankful for such a large, loving family.

What are your plans for today? Any special traditions your family has?

Looking for something short to read this Thanksgiving?

I recently read And to All a Good Bite, by Rusty Fischer, and very much enjoyed it. It's an anthology of short vampire holiday stories, and includes something for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. I just love Fischer's sense of humor.
Even better: it's free! Get it while it's hot! :)

Oh and before you go, don't forget to enter my gratitude hop book giveaway!
It's a way for me to show some gratitude to my awesome readers. :)

  1. Ahhh that sounds like a perfect time.

My family never discusses books. I should endeavor to change that.

Hope you had a marvelous blessed day!

  2. Thank you Lori!

Juju: I love it! My family is full of readers, so every time we get together, we end up on the subject of books at some point. :)

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
