Foreign Cover Friday: Deadly Little Secret

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly meme hosted by me (The Reading Fever), where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed. To join, either pick your favorite foreign cover, or pick many foreign covers, and start discussing!

This week's featured cover is:

Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Cover: US
I haven't read this series yet, but my friend is a huge fan and has recommended this book to me at least four or five times. I figure it's about time to read it. So when it came time to do this post (in a rush, because I'm cutting it really close to the time it needs to go up!), this was on my mind, and I figured: why not?

I like this cover, but I don't love it. Although I do love the cover of one of the other books in the series, and 80% of my wanting to read it, is so that I can read the one with the pretty cover. I'm terrible, I know. What I do like about this cover is that it only shows the girl's legs. The wind is blowing the skirt of her dress, and she seems to be standing in front of an old wooden building. That, coupled with the title, peaks my interest and has me wondering what this deadly little secret is!

 Cover: French
So this cover shows more of a darkness behind the story that I wouldn't have guessed at, if I had gone my the last cover. I'm not sure I like the photo (am I the only one waiting for her to turn her head, like she would in a scary movie?), but I do like the flowers and vines around the title.

French translation: Deadly Little Secrets

 Cover: German
I actually really like this one. The girl looks like she's probably having a bad day, and with that and the title, I would definitely pick it up and read the back cover. She also doesn't have on a dress, the photo isn't centered around her hair, nor is it centered around making her look like the most gorgeous girl who ever lived. Major plus!

German translation: Deadly Secret

Cover: Polish
This cover actually scares me and intrigues me at the same time. The title is awesome, and even though this cover obviously does everything that is stereotypical of YA covers these days, the girl's look s awesome. It's like she's daring me to pick up the book and find her fatal secret. Awesome!

Polish translation: Fatal Secret

  1. These covers are interesting because they are ALL so different and seem to show a different side of the story. I think I like the French cover best though.

  3. Interesting how the girl has different colored hair in each of the foreign covers. I'm with you--I think the German one was the most intriguing.
