Foreign Cover Friday: The Last Summer (Of You and Me)

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly meme hosted by me (The Reading Fever), where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed. To join, either pick your favorite foreign cover, or pick many foreign covers, and start discussing!

This week's featured cover is:

The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares
US hardcover, and US paperback

I don't know what it is about this book--maybe it has to do with the summer theme--but there isn't one cover out of all of these that I don't like. While I originally picked up this book because of the title and the photo on the hardcover (that reflection on the sand is gorgeous!), I would pick up any of the other covers below, and at least read the back description.

What do you think?

Covers: Dutch
Two little girls playing, slippers on a clothesline and a sand castle.
While the cover with the sandcaslte looks more like non-fiction to me, it's still has me interested. The other covers speak for themselves!

Translations: The Last Summer

Covers: French and UK
Love the footprints in the sand on the French cover, and I LOVE the photo and title font on the UK cover. I'm such a font person; it's scary what I would pick up just because of the font! ;)

French translation: You and Me Forever

Covers: The three above and the one below are the German covers. I don't know which types of covers they are; none of the websites I could find that had any information about them would translate correctly.

Okay, so I have absolutely no idea what the apple on the third cover has to do with the story, but the cover as whole really works for me. The heart bitten out, and the rich red against the blue gingham. I really like that cover. I also like the first cover (although it looks more like adult fic. to me), and the second cover.

Translations: Our Last Summer

Covers: Portuguese
Last two covers! These both look like adult fiction to me, mainly because the cover models look older. But they work for me anyway. I like the colors on the first cover, and that sunrise on the second cover is gorgeous!

Translations: The Last Summer (Mine and Yours)

What are your thoughts?
Which covers do you like? Which do you hate?

Thanks for joining me for Foreign Cover Friday!

  1. I agree. I like all of them. I have to say, though, that I don't love any of them either. Or hate them. They are all pretty.

  5. I love these cover posts. :) I think all of them say beach read except for the one with the apple. But even that looks like it could be for a picnic. So they all say summer in their way.

  6. I like the two covers with the thongs - pardon me, I believe Americans call them flip-flops. I think it's so cute and it appeals to me as an Aussie because it's very beachy!

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
