Waiting on Wednesday: The Scorpio Races

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. Visit Breaking The Spine to see more entries!

This week, I am eagerly waiting on:

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult
Publication Date: 10.18.2011
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line.

Some riders live.
Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn't given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

Not only does it have a cool title, but this book just sounds really good. I'm not even sure which part of the description has me so captivated (the races, the water horses, the girl racing, or the live/die aspect), but I am seriously excited for it! It has made my top five anticipated books being released this fall. I cannot wait!

P.S. Thanks to Fictional Distraction, for having this as her WOW pick last week, so I could discover it! :)

What are you waiting on?

I feel like so many amazing books are coming out in October, it's going to be such an overwhelming month! But in a good way, of course.
