Foreign Cover Friday: Wicked Lovely

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly feature where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed.

This week's featured cover is:

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

This cover is pretty, but it is even more gorgeous in person. It's shiny and sparkly, and the purples play so nicely with the shadows. I think it is a very good representation of the book. I thought it was perfect until I saw the covers from Finland:

Are these not to die for? The first two covers are two different Finnish variations, and the third cover is the Polish cover.
I love the Finnish covers so much, I want a copy for myself. The font is perfect, and the one with pink letters brings out the girl's lips really well.
Google Translate couldn't translate the first word of the Finnish cover, but the second word is Wonderful. The Polish cover translates to Queen of the Summer.

These are both German covers; the one on the right is the paperback cover. It's been a while since I have read this book, but I don't remember any drowning or swimming scenes. Does anyone else? Not sure what it has to do with the book, but I do like the photo. They even kept the gorgeous purple tones from the original cover. :)
Translation: Against the Summer Light

This  cover on the left isn't technically a foreign cover, but it is different than the original. It's the children's version (Harper children's publishing, as opposed to HarperTeen). It looks pretty cool, and they managed to give it an urban feel, which also goes along with the book.
The middle cover is the French verstion, and can I just mention how hot this guy is? :) The split-screen is something different, and I think it works for the book, especially considering the title.
The cover on the right is the Indonesian version. I said in my last post that I'm not into anime or anime-looking covers, but I think this one is actually very pretty.
French translation: Never Fall in Love
Indonesian translation: Enchanting Enchantment

These are the Romanian, Spanish, and Turkish covers (L to R). Are you sensing a theme here? I'm guessing purple is a good color to have on your color, since it seems to be on almost all of these covers. I'm not complaining though. I love purple!
These covers don't really catch my attention, but I do love the design on the Turkish cover. I'm a sucker for swirlies and flowers.
Edit: I forgot the translations!
Romanian: Fascination
Spanish: Fatal Charm
Turkish: Dear Cursed

Which covers do you like? Which do you hate? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment with your thoughts.

Thanks for joining me for Foreign Cover Friday!

  1. I like the Indonesian version, probably mostly because of the font pretty leaves rather than the picture. Is that odd? LOL.

  4. Love the first five covers the best. Great colors and fonts.

I'm not overly fond of book covers with full faces on them (in most cases.) I like to imagine what the characters look like on my own. The first five covers here leave so much to my imagination. :)

  5. I don't like the Spanish cover. I think when you see a certain cover on a book so often, seeing anything else seems weird.

  7. Juju: Thanks so much for participating! I'm off to check out your post. :)

C.E. Hart: I'm with you on that one; I'm not all too fond of covers with faces, wither. The only one I'm really into that has a face is the French cover. LOVE it! :)

Alexis: I totally agree, and especially about the Spanish cover. I'm not a fan of it.

Blodeuedd: Thanks so much for stopping by!
