Why Utah Rocks

Yesterday my sister and I went to the Utah Book Blogger Winter Social! It is an event put on twice yearly (winter and summer) where book bloggers and authors can get together and mingle. This one was hosted by Natasha from Maw Books Blog, Suey from It's All About Books, and Becky from One Literature Nut.

I was pretty nervous and shy...I am, after all, a pretty new book blogger, and there were so many awesome bloggers and authors who I knew would be there. In the end, though, I didn't need to be so nervous. Everyone was so nice! I loved getting to meet so many new people, and also meeting a few in real life, who I had met online. There were even a few people who knew me by my name, which was surprising and very flattering (oh my gosh, you made my day!). And boy, did  I come home with the biggest list of books to read, new authors to check out, and new blogs to visit! My only regret is that I didn't put myself out there and get to know everyone. Next time I won't be so shy!

Awesome fact: Did you know Utah is home to many authors? I don't have an exact number (does anyone else have a number?), but this is a running list on Goodreads of books by Utah authors. I'm sure you've heard of at least a few of them.

Another awesome fact: Did you know that Utah is home to over 80 book bloggers? That's something I learned last night, and I think it's pretty cool. Most of them were at the social. It was fantastic! This is how I am keeping track of them: a list of the Utah book community's Twitter feeds (including book bloggers and authors), put together by Natasha from Maw Books Blog.

Thanks Utah book community. You rock!!

  1. I enjoyed meeting you and your sister at the social!

  2. Penelope, you and your sister are so cute and your blog is fantastic! What a great idea and it's beautifully done.

  3. It was so fun meeting you and your sister! :) You have the cutest blog too. Welcome, welcome, and I can't wait to meet up again in August!

  4. Utah does rock. Sometimes I think if it wasn't so far from my family, we would move there. The people are some of the greatest sweetest people you will ever meet.

  5. Thanks for saying hi at the social. It was fun to meet you and your sister!

  6. Every year I say I won't be so shy the next time... and sadly, I still am. That's life I guess. So good to meet you! I'm so glad you came! :)

  7. Alison: It was great to meet you, too! Thanks for stopping by!

Kim: Thank you! It was so nice to sit by you at the social! I loved getting to know you. :)

Becky: I can't, either! This one was way too fun. I'm excited for August. Thanks for the welcome!

Juju: Isn't it? I just love Utah. :)

Emily: It was great to meet you, too! Thanks for stopping by!

Suey: I like to say I won't be so shy, but I probably will be again. My goal is to at least get out there a little more next time. Glad to meet you, too!

Thanks for commenting! I read each and every one, and reply as soon as I can :)

Please note: The Reading Fever is an award-free zone. I am very flattered, but comments are all the thanks I need.
